WE ARE LIRA!

Welcome to the Loudoun Invasive Removal Alliance (LIRA), a united effort of over 50 Homeowner’s Associations (HOA’s) representing 200,000+ residents in Loudoun County. Our mission is to protect Loudoun County, Virginia, from the adverse effects of invasive plant species. Acknowledging the pressing need for action, we have formed a strong alliance with the Loudoun County government to collectively tackle the escalating threat presented by non-native plant species.

Loudoun County, Virginia

MISSION

At the core of our mission is the protection of residents' safety, economic well-being, and overall health. Invasive species, as defined by the USDA, have the potential to cause significant harm to our environment, economy, and human health. We aim to counteract this threat through collaborative efforts that empower our community to take meaningful action.

WHY IT MATTERS

Loudoun County, known for its natural beauty and thriving tourism industry, is facing a pressing challenge. Invasive species, spread primarily by human activities, have infiltrated our communities, posing risks to our $4 billion tourism sector and exacerbating climate change. The Loudoun County BOS, in partnership with HOAs, holds the key to implementing effective solutions.

OUR APPROACH

The Loudoun Invasive Removal Alliance (LIRA) embraces a collaborative community action plan. With over half of Loudoun's population residing in HOA communities, we believe that the collective power of residents, supported by HOAs and the Loudoun County BOS, can reverse the unintentional trend of invasive species introduction.

JOIN US NOW

We invite you to join our alliance, stand united against invasive plant species, and actively contribute to the well-being of our community. Together, we can create a resilient and thriving Loudoun County, free from the economic, health, safety, and environmental impacts of invasive plant species.

Be a part of Loudoun Invasive Removal Alliance - where community action makes a difference.

Yeah, we aren’t plants, but we love the Tree of Heaven, and we’re going to ruin your wine industry. And then your orchards.
